Mavillette. Hwy 101, Exit 32. Boardwalks to the long, sandy beach also protect the dunes. Low tide exposes sand flats, then the hot sand warms the water. Change houses, water, birdwatching platforms, interpretive panels. Guided walks available. Open May 21–Oct 11; supervised Jul 1–Aug 29, weekends only.
